I'm tired tired tired of having this argument with my husband. I'm sorry, but hell or high water wouldn't keep me from seeing my grandchild and jumping through whatever hoops my kids wanted. And if his dad and step mom can't be bothered to text or call and walk across their freaking driveway to come see theirs, it's not my job to force them to be a part of my child's life. He hates feeling tension every time he goes to their house, or hearing their off hand comments about how long it's been since they've seen the baby. They have all the time in the world to see their grandson and CHOOSE NOT TO. That's not my problem or fault and I will not be made to feel guilty about it, unlike hubby. I'm sick and tired of being talked about and hated for no reason. I'm sick of this conversation with hubby. I'm this close to moving back to Missouri into our vacant house just because I think it'd be better for our marriage than living next to his parents when we don't get along. We'll see what happens when/if it gets brought up again. Uriah will not be used as a weapon to make my husband feel bad on my watch. It's just plain stupid. I don't know how you could stay away from that face anyway!

Welp, looks like I'm calling the pediatrician Monday. I wasn't too concerned with Uriah being fussier, so not sleeping through the night as well, but there's just too many things now to ignore. He's has a low grade fever, I don't know if it's off and on or consistent really. He's getting startled by everything (I've read this is because 3 month olds are becoming much more alert and aware, but not sure) and crying. He's crying for no apparent reason often. He's also arching his back while eating, eating less (about 5-6oz less a day), and crying at the bottle sometimes, which makes me think reflux, but I have no idea. There for about 2 weeks he spit up after every bottle. Now he's hardly spitting up at all, but when he was spitting up he was very happy so lucky so it's a little weird for me to understand. He's kicking all night long in his sleep too and I wonder if that's reflux too, laying on his back maybe it irritates him? Really I just need to call the doc and see what they think/recommend. He's been almost unbearably fussy, causing me a few crying sessions myself when he just won't stop crying and I have no idea why. He is still eating 29-30oz a day and peeing enough a day though so I figured that it wasn't worth a ped. call, but with the arching back, eating less, and fever (98.5 under arm, I read you're to add a degree but I'm not sure) I figure it's best to call them. Hoping it's nothing or at least nothing serious. Which I doubt it is.
UPDATE: He was himself again before the end of the weekend, so no call needed. Man teething & sleep regression is a killer! I mentioned briefly before that I was shaving my head to treat my psoriasis by using a tanning bed rather than continue with steroids, or taking pills. And the dermatologist I saw said she didn't think my insurance would cover the shot but I'd rather try this first than give myself a shot too. Hair can grow back. But in the meantime, I feel vain but, I hate this. I'm always wearing a hat or my wig. The tanning is only having a little effect so far but hoping for a greater one as time goes on. This is me with my wig: And this is me without it: It's not the easiest to tell but if you could see me in person, along my hair line my scalp is very red or covered in white scabs if I haven't treated it with anything for a while. I hope this tanning works and maybe I can just maintain getting sun to my scalp with my hair a little longer instead of this long term. I don't know if anyone else is going through this, but I hope they know they aren't alone.
Well, my husband and I had a discussion the other day, and I got the vibe he didn't understand just how hard it is to be home with little one all the time. Well, with little man teething, he's gotten this odd witching hour from 11am-12:30pm and will scream off and on inconsolably. I've tried every single thing before and nothing works. Well, hubby goes to work at 2 Monday and Tuesday, so Tuesday I asked him to put Uriah to sleep after his 9:30am feeding around 10:30. Needless to say, he screamed off and on from 11-12:30 no matter what hubby did. After he was done, he said "He makes me want to go to work." I said "I'd rather go work 40 hours a week than have to do that every day." And he said "I'd rather go to work every day than do that again." YES YOU UNDERSTAND! I won't make him do it again, but I just wanted him to 'get' that this isn't a mommy vacation. I hope other dads with wife at home with little ones understand as well!
Especially when your little one is too young to tell you what's wrong! Mine has been teething and I didn't even realize it until it'd been several days. Then today he screamed off and on for an hour and a half, me bawling with him for those last 30 minutes, as I tried everything known to man to quiet him. Finally he passed out in my arms. He's been fine ever since as long as I first hold him til he falls asleep before putting him down anywhere. He must have just decided this method today to throw me off because he's never just gone to sleep in my arms before. I've always had to rock him in the rock n play or the swing! Babies... they change on you with no warning.
But a bright spot today, Uriah discovered his toes! It was SO freakin' funny. I was laying on my back, and had him sitting up, propped against my knees, butt on my tummy. Well, he got this concerned look on his face, and slowly started leaning more and more forward until he was almost in half, and then grabbed his toes. He started touching them and curling his toes and uncurling them, all the time having his eyebrows furrowed and a string of drool hanging from his mouth. I was trying so hard not to laugh at how concerned he seemed! He finally leaned back and sighed and forgot about them, but it was just too funny. He drives me crazy but I love him so much. Especially when he sleeps through the night like last night, after almost a week of waking every 30min-1hr! Cue overly dramatic title. Anyone else with a husband who hunts? Just a few things my fellow hunting widows will understand. You know your husband hunts when:
All your husband's vacation time is taken in October-November. Extra money is spent on boots, bow strings, a second or third bow, etc. The worst thing you could possibly do is wash his hunting clothes in anything scented. He comes home and gets naked... to ask you if you see any ticks on him. His idea of a fun date is scouting hunting spots together. The webpages he leaves open are ebay deals for hunting gear, and google maps over his hunting spots. He shows off pictures of his mounts instead of his baby. You could recommend a bow, arrow, and broadhead to a stranger even though you've never bought any yourself. You zone out on the phone because he started with "I saw this deer today" Driving around town is driving around the state park at dusk with binoculars. His days off are spent hanging stands and surfing the net for more hunting gear he doesn't need. He wants to buy you a bow every time a special occasion comes up... so he can shoot it too. You become a single woman once hunting season starts. He plans ahead of time what hunting gear will be bought with your next tax return. He sells his video game consoles to buy more hunting stuff. He doesn't want his kids to get into hunting, because then he'll have to share his hunting spots. Everyone buys your kid(s) camo and hunting related clothes, and asks when they'll start hunting like daddy. His favorite thing about his friends is they can share conversations about deer. He complains to you when his friends over estimate a deer's size. He thinks the best time is checking the SD cards from his trail cameras, and could spend hours looking through the pics. Dead animals decorate your home when you swore they never would. You try every recipe known to man to make deer taste good, since your freezer gets full of it. Deer steaks, deer tacos, deer chili, deer crockpot roast, and on and on. I'm sure there are more, but that's off the top of my head! Ah well. I love my hunter! There were several things people told me to prepare for my little guy. Some of them came true ("You'll want a rock n play!") and some didn't ("You'll be handing him over just to be able to get a shower!"). But I decided to write myself a list of things I've learned from pregnancy, birth, and having a newborn that I want to remember for my next baby. Hopefully they can help someone else too! (*Note: These will NOT apply to every baby, just my experience.)
Zippers are better than snaps when it comes to pajamas. The summer can get too warm for sleepers- the best is long gowns. Bumgenius diapers are worth the money. Fitted diapers can be dried on medium, pockets do best on low, and hang covers & wetbags out to dry. Newborns don't let you get more than 3 hours sleep a night for the first month, then 5 hours a night the second month. Don't expect them to sleep through the night until 10-11 weeks. Finding the right formula is like finding a needle in a haystack. If your newborn is crying, it needs something. You never let a newborn cry it out. My newborn didn't like his swing until he was almost 2 months old. I almost took it back, but around 2-2.5 months they start needing to be soothed to sleep and I'm so glad I didn't return it! Sunhats are a must. A mesh/lightweight carrier or wrap is better for summer. Babyganics stain remover is amazing I had to use gas drops in every bottle because Similac is so foamy, and the drops get rid of the foam. Baby needed Avent medium flow nipples by 1 month old, not 3. Glass bottles don't hold germs and chemicals like plastic (the chemicals used to replace BPA can be just as bad as BPA). I wish I'd bought twelve 8 oz bottles, instead of six 4 oz and six 8 oz. He hardly used the 4 oz. Replace bottle nipples for every baby. Q-tips to get out boogers. Babies hate suction bulbs. Babies aren't interested in toys until almost 3 months. Taking baby out and about is a hassle, especially because cloth diapers take up so much room in a diaper bag. Babies don't need cereal to sleep through the night. Get 2 thermometers- 1 for underarm and 1 for rectal. Walgreen's brand infant Tylenol drops don't contain dyes or high fructose corn syrup. You don't need many 0-3 month socks, but buy lots of 3-12 month. Pants are useless, especially in 6 months or under. Rock n plays are great for naps, but they'd be perfect if they rocked themselves. When your newborn is too big for receiving blankets, they're probably too old to be swaddled fully anymore anyway, since you don't want to swaddle when they can roll over. Boppy noggin nest is good to prevent or help fix flat spots. Just shirts are better than onesies, because if they have a blowout you don't have to change their whole outfit. Snap up or zipper outfits are better than over the head ones like most onesies, because babies can get fussy if you pull clothes over their heads or they may have a big head making it more difficult to get on. Wipes dry out in anything other than their original container. When giving baby a bath, run the shower to steam the bathroom and place a washcloth on their chest to keep them warm during the bath. Powder is useful to keep crevices dry and from chaffing. Baby vicks on their feet at night can prevent a stuffy nose from waking them up. Uriah eats $6 of formula a day. Giving birth was $1500 with insurance. 25 cloth diaper changes is a minimum. Uriah needs to be changed 3 times after every feeding. You can't use a bottle warmer with glass bottles. You don't need a baby monitor until/unless they sleep in their own room. Babies don't need a bath with soap every day. Only buy used clothes unless it's a special occasion. They grow out of them too quickly. You don't need to use wipes for every pee diaper. It's ok for a baby to go days without pooping, as long as the poop isn't thicker/harder than peanut butter consistency. It takes forever for babies eyes to adjust outside. Baby wash clothes aren't a waste if your baby is allergic to your detergent, because then you can wash them in a separate detergent. Labor at home until the contractions are consistent, no matter how close in range they seem. Humidifiers don't fix a stuffy nose by themselves. Changing tables aren't a waste. Never use a non-mesh bumper. Uriah could scoot very early on and I found his face against the mesh bumper more than once. Use fluoride free water for bottles. It's okay for baby's eyes to 'sunset' as long as they don't do this constantly. Safe for baby sanitizing wipes come in handy. Always pack an extra outfit and an extra shirt for you in the diaper bag. Mommy's bliss gripe water is better than Little remedies. Never stock up on more than 3 cans of formula before baby tries it. No point in tummy time until they start sitting up assisted. Umbilical cord falls off by 2 weeks- sponge bath until then. Take everything you can from the hospital room. You can get your period as early as 4 weeks after birth. First baby skin peels and then comes baby acne, then comes cradle cap, and then comes hair loss. Growth spurts will run you ragged (remember- Wonder weeks). I thought I'd share some of my favorite recipes! Most are really easy since I'm not one for spending a lot of time & effort on food. BBQ Pork Loin Crockpot Creamy Italian Chicken Baked Ziti Dirt Cake Crockpot BBQ Chicken Sugar Cookies I wish I had gotten a video but I didn't grab the camera in time. He's done it 2 more times since (belly to back, not back to belly) but still never had the camera in tow. Luckily hubby got to see once. That means he rolled at 12.5 weeks, but I'm still looking for that back to belly roll. It seems to trip him up when his arm gets caught under him. Oh well! Uriah has suddenly become more clingy and I'm not sure why since yesterday too. He's always slept in his crib, but last night when he woke up, he would only fall asleep in my arms, and when I laid him down, he was up and awake. Never done that before. Normally he won't fall asleep on me. Then when he went to take a nap, I can rock him in his r&p and he'll go to sleep. But today he wanted to be constantly touching my hand instead. If I thought he was asleep and pulled it away, he woke up again and was fussy. Then I finally had to leave him to go to the bathroom and set him on his activity mat, which he normally loves, and he got mad until I gave him his paci. Gave me enough time to pee at least but when I came back he wasn't completely content until I picked him up again. Has anyone else's LO gone through a phase like this? I know he loves his momma but momma has stuff to do! I'm enjoying it because I know he won't be little forever and one day he won't cling to me, but a woman's got to pee. He'll be 3 months the 17th and I can't wait to take his picture and compare it to his newborn, 1, and 2 month pics!
Okay so the video is long, but it was so cute! During his week 11, I noticed Uriah on his activity mat noticed one of the dangling toys for the first time. He was intentionally grabbing it. So a few days later I broke out the walker and filmed. He was mesmerized by that spinning ball for some reason! We also went through the week 12 wonder week a little early. During week 11 he was up all night a couple nights in a row and in general fussy for no reason. But hey, he got another 1/2 inch in growth, better head control, and observing toys out of it. He is also sitting up a lot better! Luckily the wonder week trial is over now that he hit 12 weeks yesterday and he slept 10-4:30 happily without a peep. When he did wake up, he wasn't crying or hungry, so needing to be put back to sleep. I covered him with a blanket after changing him, and put his paci in his mouth. Then I laid my hand on his chest and with one hand he squeezed my thumb and with his other hand he petted my hand. It was so cute! He fell asleep, but only for 30 minutes. Oh well! It was cute while it lasted anyway.
